About Us

Yes, everyone at Poetry by the Seine loves Paris, France, hence the name. But, it isn't only the Parisian landmarks and their history, architecture, pleasant visits to local parks, the coffee, the wine, getting on a metro to take us to our destination, getting off the metro to enjoy our destination, the museums, or the long walks along the boulevards, which have enraptured us. But, it is none other than the Bouquinistes of Paris. These cultural gems have, indeed, long withstood the test of time, and still mold Parisian life today.

Poetry by the Seine, therefore, aims to inspire you, our readers, in a similar way. We hope that our site can provide you with something hardly found elsewhere, as our goal is to give you a new reason to scroll, browse, and select items such as books, [book] accessories, blogs, and information on community events that are right for you.

A little bit about the name ...

The name Poetry by the Seine was inspired by a dream. In the dream, I was sitting at the banks of the Seine writing in a journal. I stared off into the distance knowing that my husband, son, and our little dog were at our Parisian apartment playing the usual father-son games. I don't know if I was truly writing a poem, but given that I was in Paris and that it was my dream, I will safely assume that that was so ;) Thus, the name Poetry by the Seine, to say the least, was born.

A little more about the boquinistes and you ...

The bouquinistes add to "the Paris" that writers and artists, past and present, sought and still seek today. Although many notorious ones such as Picasso, Hemingway, and Dali, explored, and, perhaps, nestled in this beautiful city, by writers and artists we also mean you, the writers and creators of your own life. Perhaps it was the pleasant walks along the Seine, along with the cool breeze and warm sun that made the muses bolder, but to find these simple [and inspiring] pleasures, one does not need to travel across the globe [as often].

Therefore, we hope that you allow Poetry by the Seine to be who brings the written word to you, in books that deserve a second chance. We will also provide ideas on what or where to read, as well as information on upcoming events, which can be  found in our Blog section, Facebook, and Instagram pages.

Again, thank you and welcome to our site.
